Exciting Live-In Internship at Halbert Farm

At Halbert Farm, we're passionate about raising a happy and healthy array of animals. Located in Burleson, TX, in the DFW Area, our farm is home to a delightful mix of creatures, including:

Cute and Cuddly Kunekune Pigs: Get ready for piglets galore! You'll learn about their specific needs and care.
Charming Mini Zebu Cows: These miniature bovines are a unique breed. You'll gain valuable experience in their husbandry.
Prized Exhibition Stock Chickens: If you're fascinated by poultry, you'll discover what it takes to raise top-quality show birds.
Our Equine Family: We also have horses and a friendly donkey who are part of our farm.
Loyal Livestock Guardian Dog: Learn how these amazing animals protect our livestock.
The Indoor Crew: Adding to the fun, we have four beloved house dogs and three pigs who share our home!

Your Internship Adventure Awaits

This immersive internship offers a unique chance to live and breathe farm life for a minimum of 30 days, with the earliest start date in April. Spring is a particularly active time on the farm, with the arrival of many new babies. As an intern, you'll be directly involved in all aspects of livestock care, including:

Caring for newborns: This will be a major focus. You’ll ensure they are feeding well and monitor their health.
Feeding and watering: You’ll learn the specific dietary needs of each type of animal.
Health checks and basic first aid: Under guidance, you’ll learn to identify and address common health issues.
Assisting with birthing: If the timing aligns, this could be a truly unforgettable experience!
Maintaining clean and safe living spaces for the animals.
Learning about pasture management and rotational grazing.
Potentially assisting with other farm tasks as needed.

Living Accommodations for Interns

As a live-in intern, accommodation will be provided on the farm. You can expect:

A private bedroom.
A guest bath, which could be shared with another intern or visitors.
All meals provided.
If you are interested in learning to figure skate, we skate 2-3 times a week, and you would be welcome to join.
